Your Golden Weights

What happens if a gym rat wins a massive jackpot? If you are, or know someone that is a fitness freak, spending as many waking hours as they can working out then this might be a list of options they’ll think about.
So, let’s imagine you’ve got the gym room all freshly painted, plastered and the fixtures are all fitted - all that remains is the equipment.

Barbell + Weights

Hit the bench while feeling like a king as you load up your weights on a solid gold barbell. If it’s a solid gold standard barbell that is 2.2 m long and with a diameter of 0.028m, it should set you back approximately €1.5 million for the materials alone(not including the cost of labour).
Imagine working out and knowing you’re doing some of the most luxurious sets on the planet. While some might feel this is unnecessary, the fitness fans will argue that any car will get the job done, but people still enjoy luxury cars for the same journeys - and many athletes will tell you, it’s about the journey, not the destination.

Dumbbell

EMaybe you’re more of a dumbbell person so a solid gold dumbbell set (from 2.5 kg to 30 kg pairs) is more up your alley. Well, first off, this idea would cost you approximately €68.2 million.
You’re looking to enjoy a wider range of exercise but you want that luxury look that a row of gold dumbbell gives off. Well then, you are in luck, because these are available too.
They even come in different styles - because if you’re spending that much money, you’ll probably want them to match the style of the room.

Kettle Bells

They might be a different shape but the same principle as the dumb bells applies. Now standard kettlebell sets have less pieces but a bigger weight each.
So let’s say you’re aiming to acquire a standard set of 5 kettle bells of weights of 8kg, 12kg, 16 kg, 20 kg and a 24kg weight - with cost of materials and cost of labour, it will set you back about €7.5 – 8 million.

Plate-Loaded

This one might grab the Military enthusiasts’ attention. A recent trend is to take weight vests and go for a run, a jog or even a simple walk.
This has proven to be an effective method of exercise when the weights are increased gradually. So what if we lose the regular weights and replace them with custom-sized gold plates?
Granted, running with these isn’t as flashy as curling gold dumbells but for the subtle type of person, this is the sweet spot between.

Now we understand that after all of the above, we haven’t really mentioned any clear difference between them and regular weights - but there is one interesting one.
If your weights were made out of solid gold, they would physically be smaller than standard ones of equal weight because gold is denser than iron or steel.
This means that you get the same job done with an equally heavy weight and get a more comfortably sized weight.

Which of these would you purchase for your personal gym? These are just some of the fantastic options that are available and we didn’t even consider other precious or rare earth metals.
